  • When should I have my first obstetrician appointment?
    We recommend that you contact us to book your first appointment as soon as you know you are pregnant. Most women will have their first appointment between 7 and 10 weeks for a dating scan where you will see your baby for the first time. Of course, you're welcome to see us earlier if you have any concerns, just give our practice a call at 02 9629 3559
  • Where do Dr Chan/Dr Mansoor deliver?
    Both Dr Adeline Chan and Dr Ambreen Mansoor have admitting rights at Norwest Private Hospital in Bella Vista and Westmead Private Hospital. You can also choose to be a private patient at Blacktown Hospital.
  • What should I bring for my first appointment?
    If you are eligible for Medicare, a referral entitles you to a Medicare rebate on your consultation fee and any subsequent treatment. To enable you to claim with Medicare, please bring a valid referral from your GP and/ or IVF specialist. Do bring along any other relevant ultrasounds and blood test results. A referral from a GP is valid for 12 months. A referral from another specialist is valid for 3 months.
  • What should I do if I have an emergency between appointments?
    Please call the office at 02 9629 3559 during office hours if you're concerned about your pregnancy and my reception team will arrange an appointment as soon as possible. If you're experiencing vaginal bleeding, fluid loss, contractions or have noticed a reduction in baby's movements or have any urgent concerns, please call your hospital's maternity unit. Norwest Private Hospital maternity unit : 02 8882 8591 Westmead Private Hospital maternity unit: 02 8837 9187 The midwives will advise you of the most appropriate course of action.
  • How often will I see my practitioner during my pregnancy?
    For your antenatal care, we will see you once every 4 weeks up to 32 weeks, fortnightly until 36 weeks and weekly until the delivery of your baby. At every appointment, we will check on the health of baby and mother and perform an ultrasound (at no additional cost). This is the best time to ask any questions and share any concerns you may have. If you have any concerns in between visits, do call the reception staff to schedule an appointment. After the delivery of your baby, you'll come for a postnatal visit, 6 weeks after your baby is born. We would love to see how you and your baby are going. We can further discuss contraception plans and cervical screening tests at this appointment as well.
  • What if you are unavailable for my birth?
    In the unlikely event that we are unable to attend to your delivery due to unforseen circumstances, rest assured you will be looked after by another specialist obstetrician who practices with the same values and high standards of care that we adhere to. We plan her holidays 12 months in advance and you will be informed prior to becoming our private patient. Also, we lives locally and are within 10 minutes of Norwest Private Hospital and within 20 minutes of Westmead Private Hospital.
  • What are your fees?
    Patients have the right to know how much their private health care will cost. We are happy to provide full and transparent financial disclosure ahead of time. Please contact our friendly reception staff at 02 9629 3559 for a copy of our obstetric financial disclosure.
